410A REFRIGERANT vs R22 FREON 12/31/2009
410A refrigerant was developed as an environmentally friendly and more efficient alternative to replace R22 Freon. R410A refrigerant does not deplete the ozone the way R-22 does. As of January 1, 2010 it is illegal to charge any HVAC equipment manufactured after January 1, 2010 with R22 Freon. Units manufactured before that date can still be charged with R22 if serviceable. If the equipment is unserviceable the equipment will have to be replaced. Refrigerants R 410A and R22 cannot be cross-matched in units. This means if you have a split system you will have to replace both the condenser and the air handler. Add Comment | AuthorA. Carbone CategoriesAll |
